The first time Shanique met an IFBB professional was when she was 16.

Shanique has been training in bodybuilding since 2013. Her first competition was at the 2013 NPC Teen/Novice Illinois, where she placed 2nd. Shanique continued to compete in several NPC shows before signing with the IFBB in 2015.

Workout Routine

Shanique’s workout routine includes four body part splits. Shanique trains the upper body on Monday and Thursday, legs on Tuesday and Friday, and lower body on Wednesday and Saturday.

She uses jelly dumbbells which distribute the weight evenly around your hands. These bells add 50 pounds to Shanique’s max dumbbell weight of 80 pounds. Shanique also uses a pulley system with her leg press machine, which allows her to use up to 100 lbs!

Shanique spends approximately 2 hours in the gym on training days and 3 hours in the gym on non-training days. Shanique’s favorite exercises are squats, pull-ups, and rows.

She is currently on a 5% caloric surplus which is approximately 2500 calories each day. Her carb-to-protein ratio is 32-33% which she ensures by consuming foods such as tuna, salmon, chicken breast, and oatmeal. This helps her stay healthy while building the right amount of muscle mass.

Her high school years were not easy for Shanique Grant. She was bullied throughout her junior and high school years, which pushed her to overcompensate.
