Comparison

hCG vs Kisspeptin-10

Both are reproductive & HPTA, so the meaningful differences are in kinetics, evidence and regulatory status.

On published evidence alone, hCG is the better documented of the two (regulator approved). That is a statement about the state of the literature, not a recommendation.

hCG

Human chorionic gonadotropin is a glycoprotein hormone, not a simple peptide, structurally similar to luteinising hormone and acting at the same LH/CG receptor. In men it stimulates Leydig cells directly to produce testosterone and maintains testicular volume and intratesticular testosterone during exogenous androgen therapy. Because it acts downstream of the pituitary it works even when the HPTA is fully suppressed, which is the practical difference from gonadorelin.

Kisspeptin-10

Kisspeptin-10 is the shortest active fragment of kisspeptin, the peptide encoded by KISS1 that acts at the KISS1R receptor on hypothalamic GnRH neurons. It sits one level above GnRH in the reproductive hierarchy and is the principal gatekeeper of puberty and fertility, integrating metabolic and hormonal signals. Because it stimulates endogenous pulsatile GnRH rather than replacing it, research interest centres on inducing more physiological LH release than direct GnRH dosing achieves.

hCG vs Kisspeptin-10: common questions

What is the difference between hCG and Kisspeptin-10?

Both are reproductive & HPTA. hCG: A placental glycoprotein hormone that mimics LH directly at the testis, the long-standing standard for preserving fertility on TRT. Kisspeptin-10: The upstream trigger for GnRH release, and the most physiologically natural way to stimulate the reproductive axis.

Which has stronger evidence, hCG or Kisspeptin-10?

hCG has the stronger evidence base (regulator approved, about 60 human studies) compared with Kisspeptin-10 (clinical trials).

Are hCG and Kisspeptin-10 FDA approved?

Only hCG is FDA approved (Prepubertal cryptorchidism; Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in males; Ovulation induction). Kisspeptin-10 is not approved for any indication.
