The best anti-aging peptides, separated from the longevity marketing

Longevity is where peptide marketing is least constrained by evidence. These are the compounds with a real mechanism and at least some human signal, ranked accordingly. Several famous names are in the excluded list with reasons.

How we ranked these Evidence level first. Mechanism plausibility breaks ties. Anything resting on a single mouse study is excluded rather than ranked last. Full criteria in our methodology.

Quick answer

#CompoundClassEvidenceReported rangeStatus
1 Tesamorelin GHRH analogs Regulator approved 1-2 mg Prescription
2 GHK-Cu Healing & repair Clinical trials 1-2 mg Unapproved
3 SS-31 Mitochondrial & longevity Clinical trials 40-60 mg Prescription
4 MOTS-c Mitochondrial & longevity Preliminary human 5-10 mg Research only
5 Epitalon Bioregulators Preliminary human 100-200 mcg Research only

The ranking

01

Tesamorelin

Regulator approved GHRH analogs

An approved GHRH analog that restores IGF-1 toward younger ranges and reduces visceral fat, both of which are reasonable ageing targets. It is the only compound here with a large controlled trial base.

Evidence~15 human studies
Reported range1-2 mg
Half-life~26-38 minutes
Banned in sportYes
TTesamorelin
02

GHK-Cu

Clinical trials Healing & repair

Plasma GHK declines markedly with age and the copper complex modulates a broad set of tissue-remodelling genes. Human dermatological trials are positive. This is anti-aging in the literal, measurable sense.

Evidence~15 human studies
Reported range1-2 mg
Half-life~30 minutes (systemic)
Banned in sportNo
GGHK-Cu
03

SS-31

Clinical trials Mitochondrial & longevity

A cardiolipin-stabilising mitochondrial peptide that has been through multiple phase III trials in mitochondrial disease. The age-related muscle decline work is earlier stage but it is one of the few longevity compounds with a serious clinical programme.

Evidence~15 human studies
Reported range40-60 mg
Half-life~2-4 hours
Banned in sportNo
SSS-31
04

MOTS-c

Preliminary human Mitochondrial & longevity Research use only

An endogenous mitochondrial peptide that falls with age and rises with exercise. Three small human studies. Ranks on the quality of the biology rather than on outcome data.

Evidence~3 human studies
Reported range5-10 mg
Half-life~1-2 hours
Banned in sportNo

Material for this compound is sold for laboratory research only. It is not manufactured, tested or labelled for human administration.

MMOTS-c
05

Epitalon

Preliminary human Bioregulators Research use only

The most studied of the Khavinson bioregulators, associated with melatonin rhythm restoration and telomerase activation in cell culture. Nearly all evidence comes from one research group and has not been independently replicated.

Evidence~2 human studies
Reported range100-200 mcg
Half-lifeNot established
Banned in sportNo

Material for this compound is sold for laboratory research only. It is not manufactured, tested or labelled for human administration.

EEpitalon

What we left out, and why

FOXO4-DRI
One mouse study and no human data whatsoever. The senolytic mechanism is interesting; the evidence does not exist yet.
Humanin
Observational human data only. Promising biology, no intervention trials.
Glutathione
Important antioxidant, poor oral bioavailability, and the injectable route is a compounded unapproved product. N-acetylcysteine is usually the more practical path.
